For people who are new to guitars or need to know how to assemble a simple weave lock leather guitar strap, here is a quick video on how to do it. Believe it or not we get asked this question all the time.
Leather guitar straps consist of two pieces: the body and the adjustment weave (tail). Typical leather guitar straps have 8-10 adjustment slots for the adjustment weave to assemble into. Your first step is to determine the length of the strap you need. You can do this by either measuring with a soft measuring tape or through trial and error.
To assemble the leather guitar strap, insert the adjustment weave through the desired slot on the backside of the guitar strap, ensuring that the topside is facing down towards the neck of the guitar strap (this ensures that the top side is facing upward). Pull the adjustment weave all the way through until the head of the adjustment weave stops, then fold it parallel towards the back end of the guitar strap, aligning the slots for the lock position. Once aligned, weave the tail back through the top side, through the body, and the head lock, creating a lock on the adjustment slot. You can then either finish weaving the tail through the remaining slots or simply weave through the last slot to secure a perfect fit.
